In the 67th match of IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a dominant batting display to defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 55 runs in a high-scoring encounter. Batting first, Hyderabad posted a massive total of 255/4 in 20 overs.
Ishan Kishan starred with the bat, scoring 79 runs off 46 balls with eight boundaries and three sixes. Abhishek Sharma provided a fiery start with 56 runs off just 22 deliveries, while Heinrich Klaasen contributed 51 runs from 24 balls. Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy also chipped in with valuable quick runs towards the end.
Chasing a daunting target of 256, RCB struggled with regular wickets falling at crucial intervals. Captain Rajat Patidar played a fighting knock of 56 runs, while Venkatesh Iyer added 44 runs in a brisk innings. Star batter Virat Kohli managed only 15 runs. Krunal Pandya remained unbeaten on 41 to help RCB finish at 200/4 in 20 overs.
Despite the defeat, RCB successfully retained their Top-2 position in the points table by maintaining a healthy net run rate. According to IPL playoff rules, teams finishing in the top two get two opportunities to qualify for the final.
On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad, despite registering a convincing victory, remained stuck at third place in the standings. The team will now need to win both the Eliminator and Qualifier-2 matches consecutively to reach the IPL 2026 final.
