Odisha has been made proud as Sambalpur University student Anvesh Hota delivered an outstanding performance at the All India Inter-University Taekwondo Championship 2025–26, organized by DAV University in Jalandhar, Punjab. Competing in the individual Poomsae category, he secured a silver medal, bringing glory to both the state and the nation.
This national-level championship witnessed participation from over 170 universities and around 1,800 athletes from across the country. Amid tough competition, Anvesh showcased exceptional skill, consistent practice, and strong determination to reach the finals and clinch the silver medal.
From Odisha, 12 athletes participated in the event, but Anvesh Hota was the only one to win a medal, making the state proud. Along with Sambalpur University, institutions like KIIT University, Birla Global University, and Biju Patnaik University also took part in the championship.
Anvesh achieved this success under the guidance and training of international taekwondo coach Ehsaas Hota. According to the coach, his discipline, patience, and strong determination were the key factors behind this achievement.
Speaking about his success, Anvesh said, “This is my first major achievement. I aim to work harder and win gold medals at national and international levels in the future.”
Following his achievement, Sambalpur University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Bidu Bhushan Mishra, Sports Secretary Dr. D.K. Mahalik, Sports Officer Avinash Kar, Team Manager Ram Kumar Sahu, and Prof. Pradeep Kumar Nayak, among others, congratulated him.
This success is expected to inspire young athletes and further promote the growth of taekwondo in Odisha.
