Vaibhav Suryavansi created history in 15 years

Young cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi on Sunday created an extraordinary record in IPL 2026. The 15-year-old batsman, who plays for Rajasthan Royals, has achieved the feat of scoring the most runs by a teenage player in any T20 league.

He needed just two runs to reach the milestone in the match against Mumbai Indians. He broke the previous record by taking two runs off Will Jacks' ball in the second over of the innings.

In the IPL 2026 season, Vaibhav has established himself as one of the most promising young talents in the tournament, scoring 483 runs in 14 matches. The left-handed batsman from Bihar has attracted everyone's attention throughout the season with his fearless and mature batting against both fast and spin bowling.

Earlier, the record for the most runs among teenage batsmen was in the name of Devdutt Padikkal. He scored 580 runs for Karnataka cricket team at the age of 19 in the 2019-20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Tilak Varma is also on this list. He scored 397 runs in 14 matches for Mumbai Indians at the age of 19 in 2022.

On the other hand, young South African player Lhuan-dre Pretorius scored 397 runs in 12 matches for Paarl Royals in the 2024-25 SA20 season. Similarly, Will Smeed scored 385 runs in 14 matches for Somerset County Cricket Club in the 2021 Vitality Blast.
