1,840 Doctors and Over 5,000 Paramedical Staff to be Appointed Soon in Odisha

To strengthen the healthcare sector, the Odisha government is set to launch a large-scale recruitment drive. Very soon, the state will appoint 1,840 doctors and medical officers along with more than 5,000 paramedical staff. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made this key announcement while chairing a review meeting of the Health and Family Welfare Department. He stated, “All vacant posts of doctors, professors, and specialists in the state will be filled at the earliest. The process to appoint an adequate number of medical officers in all districts has already begun.” The Chief Minister further directed that special focus should be given to appointing doctors in tribal and underserved regions, ensuring quality healthcare reaches the people living there. According to health department officials, this major recruitment will improve the doctor-patient ratio in the state and strengthen the foundation of healthcare services. Paramedical staff will be deployed in Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), Sub-Divisional Hospitals, and District Hospitals across Odisha. As per government sources, notifications for the recruitment of doctors and paramedical staff will be issued shortly. The Odisha Subordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) and the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) will oversee the recruitment process. This step is expected to make healthcare services more accessible across the state, greatly benefiting the common people.
