On the occasion of Teachers’ Day (5 September 2026), the sixth annual celebration of “MU BI SAMARTH – I AM CAPABLE” was organised at the Master Classroom on the ground floor of Sunabeda Women’s Higher Secondary College. The programme was organised on the theme “Career Opportunities in Emerging Areas for the Young Minds” and provided the students with comprehensive guidance on choosing future career paths, setting goals and developing skills.

The programme commenced with the welcome address by Economics Lecturer Mr. Simanchal Das, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and an opening musical presentation by the students. Ms. Sujata Meher, Co-Founder of “MU BI SAMARTH”, explained the objectives of the programme, while science communicator Mr. Laxmi Narayan Bakshi delivered a special presentation.

Mr. A. Uma Mahesh, Joint CEO of ORMAS, Koraput; Dr. Sushama Sudheeshree, Technical Expert at the National Rainfed Area Authority, Government of India; and Professor Ajit Kumar Shasani, Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Koraput, who joined virtually, apprised the students of various opportunities in emerging career fields.

Inspirational Message from IAS Probationer Mr. Anup Nayak
Mr. Anup Nayak, an IAS probationer posted in Koraput, attended the programme as a special guest and shared experiences from his life journey. Recounting his journey from beginning his education in a government school to pursuing engineering at an NIT, followed by employment and eventually clearing the Civil Services Examination on his fifth attempt, he motivated the students to set clear goals based on their own interests and abilities rather than coming under pressure from others.

Free Skill Training and Self-Reliance
To empower rural young women and make them self-reliant, information was provided about a three-month (510-hour) free training programme in “Guest Service Associate (Food & Beverage Service)” under NSQF Level 4, supported by DDU-GKY, ORMAS, Skill India, NSDC, and the Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council.

The training opportunity is available to young women who have passed Class XII. During the training, accommodation, food, uniforms and study materials will be provided free of cost, along with placement assistance for employment opportunities in reputed hotel establishments.

Conclusion
Following an interactive question-and-answer session with the students, the programme concluded successfully with the presidential address by Principal Mrs. Indira Patnaik, the vote of thanks delivered by Sociology Lecturer Mrs. Ankurita Nayak, and a group photograph of the participants.
