Kamgaon, September 2, 2026: An exhibition showcasing traditional ornaments, rare marine shells and traditional artworks was organised at Kamgaon +2 College on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. The programme was jointly organised by Kamgaon +2 College and Shakuntala Vidyadhar Degree Women’s College, with the cooperation of “Mu Bi Samartha” and “Prakruti Prema, Bargarh.”

As part of the programme, a discussion session was organised on the theme “Cultural Coexistence of Various Plants and Animals for a Balanced Environment.” Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, Director of the International Ramnath Museum, Ayodhya, attended the discussion and emphasised the importance of promoting cultural diversity for sustainable livelihoods and a better quality of life.

On the occasion, an exhibition featuring rare marine shells of different species collected by Dr. Satyaketan Mohanty, traditional ornaments used by women, and traditional artworks made from discarded dry tree branches was inaugurated by Mr. Bhupesh Padhi, Additional Tahasildar, Bhatli, and Youth Administration Officer.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Padhi highlighted the rich diversity of cultures and traditions in India and explained how people belonging to different cultural backgrounds remain united by a common bond of unity and harmony.

The discussion session was presided over by Principal Mr. Ravi Narayan Sahu. Lecturer Dr. Deepika Kumari welcomed the guests and introduced them to the audience. Researcher Sujata Meher explained the objectives and significance of the programme.

Renowned Sambalpuri singer and musician Motilal Dora and dance guru Gandhi Barik attended the event and showcased their artistic talents. Science communicator and presenter Mr. Laxmi Narayan Baksi conducted the programme and interacted with the students by answering their various questions.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by History Lecturer Deepanjali Dash.

Dr. Ratikanta Sahu, Principal of the +3 College, and Premananda Patel, former Principal of the +2 College, also shared their valuable views during the event.

Lecturers and staff members including Amiya Patel, Sushant Sahu, Parbati Bhoi, Tuni Behera, Anupama Panda, Monalisa Pradhan, Pawan Sahu, Jagannath Sahu, Pruthviraj Mahakud, Mamata Bhoi, Ranjan Khamari, Pradeshi Barik, Kartik Pradhan, Mamata Pradhan and Debashish Pradhan, among others, actively participated and contributed to the successful organisation of the programme.

The exhibition and discussion session provided students and visitors with an opportunity to understand the importance of biodiversity, cultural heritage, traditional knowledge and sustainable coexistence with nature.
