The Asia Cup 2025 is set to begin on September 9. Apart from hosts UAE and India, the tournament will feature Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Oman, and Hong Kong. Ahead of the tournament, several cricket experts are making different predictions. In this context, former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has made big predictions regarding the winner, runner-up, top scorer, highest wicket-taker, and the player of the tournament.
According to Aakash Chopra, Team India will win the Asia Cup this time. However, neither Sri Lanka nor Pakistan will reach the final — instead, Afghanistan will face India in the title clash. He recalled Afghanistan’s impressive performances in recent multinational tournaments.
He further predicted that opener Abhishek Sharma will be the top run-scorer of the tournament, while Varun Chakravarthy will take the most wickets. The Player of the Tournament, too, will come from India, and none other than star all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
Significantly, with the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026 in mind, the Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the T20 format. This will be the third time the tournament is played in this format. The first T20 Asia Cup was held in 2016, where India, under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, emerged champions. Later, in 2022, Sri Lanka won the second T20-format Asia Cup.
