Airtel Delivers a Big Shock to Millions of Users

India’s second-largest telecom company Airtel has once again given a major jolt to its millions of users. The company has discontinued its 1GB daily data plan with 24 days validity. Under this plan, customers used to get unlimited calling, 100 free SMS, and 1GB data per day.

According to a Moneycontrol report, Airtel had marked the plan with a ‘Product Closing’ tag on its website, announcing that it would be discontinued from August 20. The company had earlier indicated that it was focusing on increasing its Average Revenue Per User (ARPU), which is why it has been gradually phasing out low-cost data plans.

Now, the cheapest plan available for Airtel users is priced at ₹319 with 30 days validity. This pack offers 1.5GB daily data, 100 SMS, and unlimited calling benefits.

In addition, the ₹299 plan with 1.5GB daily data and 28 days validity is still active. However, with the removal of the 1GB/day 24-day plan, users’ expenses are bound to increase.

Telecom industry experts say that Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone-Idea (Vi) are all taking steps to increase ARPU, and more low-cost plans are likely to be discontinued in the coming days.
