Today marks the sacred Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath. The festival is being celebrated not only in Puri but in various parts of the state. On this occasion, three chariots will be built today at the ISKCON temple in Bhubaneswar. Thousands of devotees will participate in the grand procession with Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Balabhadra, and sister Subhadra.
This year, since Nabajouban Darshan, Netrotsav, and Rath Yatra fall on the same day, a few changes in rituals have been observed. As per ISKCON temple officials, the chariot pulling will begin at 3 PM.
The deities — Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, Subhadra, and Sudarshan — will mount their chariots and begin their procession from the ISKCON temple toward the Mausi Maa Temple near CRP Square.
Chariot construction is in its final stages and will be completed by late night. All rituals — from Mangala Aarti to Pahandi and Chhera Pahanra — will be conducted as per tradition.
To manage the crowd and ensure smooth darshan, around 150 volunteers will be deployed. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Commissionerate Police have made elaborate arrangements in coordination with the temple.
Thousands of devotees from different corners of the state are expected to join this divine celebration of unity between the Lord and his devotees.
