‘Dhurandhar’ Lands in Controversy, Baloch Community Approaches Gujarat High Court

The Bollywood film ‘Dhurandhar’, which is enjoying massive success at the box office, has now landed in a fresh controversy. Taking objection to a particular dialogue in the film, some members of the Baloch community have approached the Gujarat High Court. They have demanded action against the filmmakers and the removal of the controversial dialogue.

According to a report by The Times of India, Yasin Baloch from Gandhinagar and Ayubkhan Baloch from Banaskantha have filed a petition in the High Court seeking action against the film’s director, Aditya Dhar. The petitioners have alleged that hate speech has been used against the Baloch community in the film.

The petition states that a dialogue delivered by an SP character portrayed by Sanjay Dutt has drawn serious objection. The dialogue reportedly says, “One can trust a crocodile, but not a Baloch,” which the petitioners claim is insulting to the Baloch community.

The petitioners have demanded that until the said dialogue is permanently muted or deleted, changes should be made to the certificate issued by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

They have urged the High Court to order a re-examination of the film and direct the CBFC to ensure strict compliance with constitutional and statutory guidelines. According to the petitioners, the dialogue defames the Baloch community and promotes hatred against them, thereby violating the constitutional guarantee of equality.
