The new campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad was inaugurated in Dubai. In the presence of India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and UAE’s Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, formally inaugurated the campus.
Mr. Pradhan stated that this is a major step towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of taking Indian education to the global stage. The new campus will not only give India a fresh identity before the world but will also serve as a perfect platform for the National Education Policy’s vision of being “Indian in spirit, global in outlook.” It also adds a proud chapter to India–UAE educational relations.
Earlier, a bilateral meeting was held between the Education Ministers of India and the UAE, during which cooperation in the higher education sector was reviewed and discussions were held to further strengthen the “Knowledge Bridge.”
Later, while participating in a roundtable conference, Mr. Pradhan interacted with leaders of higher educational institutions about future strategies and perspectives. He also emphasized the need to strengthen “Brand India” in the fields of global education, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
On the final day of his visit, Mr. Pradhan paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Indian Consulate in Dubai and planted a tree under the campaign “One Tree for My Mother.” On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, he also interacted with CBSE school principals and launched Atal Tinkering Labs in Indian schools in the UAE.
