New Development Vision for 2036: 'Odisha Development Summit' begins in Bhubaneswar

A two-day Odisha Development Conclave commenced today at a private hotel in Bhubaneswar. The conclave will host various thematic sessions aimed at defining the state’s comprehensive development agenda, climate resilience strategies, people-centric policies, and long-term future vision. Organizers stated that this platform will act as a guiding force in shaping Odisha’s modern, inclusive, and nature-aligned development in the coming years.

More than 500 participants from different regions of the state—including community leaders, civil society organizations, government departments, youth networks, academic institutions, private bodies, and business sectors—are attending the conclave. These diverse and inclusive voices have come together to discuss and design a holistic roadmap for Odisha’s development, which will significantly contribute to future policymaking.

Odisha will celebrate its 100th year of formation in 2036. Ahead of this historic milestone, the Odisha Development Conclave has been organized with the objective of preparing the state as a leading climate-resilient and people-centric region. Representatives from various sectors have gathered to deliberate on crafting a balanced, coordinated, and enterprising development framework for the coming decade.

More than 40 senior members from NITI Aayog, Government of Odisha, civil society, and various social organizations are actively involved in organizing this event. They are discussing people-centric development, equal-opportunity market systems, nature-aligned growth models, and key policy interventions.

In the inaugural session, Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, CYESD Co-founder Jagadanand, and noted social scientist Rajesh Tandon delivered impactful speeches on rural development, climate change resilience, community-based empowerment, and citizen participation. Their insights are expected to have a deep influence on the state’s long-term policy framework.

One of the major highlights of the conclave is the launch of the ‘Odisha Climate Change and Just Transition Forum.’ This platform aims to bring together communities, policymakers, industries, academia, and youth to drive climate-resilient development, protect natural ecosystems, promote clean energy, and ensure a fair transition in the energy sector.
