Eminent Odia poetess Dr. Sushri Sangita Mishra represented India at the prestigious five-day World Congress of Poets, organized by the World Academy of Arts and Culture (WAAC) under the aegis of UNESCO in Monterrey, Mexico.
Dr. Mishra was the sole poet from India invited to deliver a speech during a special session on “Philosophy behind the Poetry of Great Poets,” held at the Department of Philosophy and Letters, Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. She shared the stage with distinguished poets Sonia Garza Rapport (Mexico), Daniel Graglia (Chile), and Doc Drumheller (New Zealand).
A press release issued by UNESCO, WAAC, and the World Congress of Poets (WCP) stated that 120 poets from 19 countries participated in the grand literary conference, held at the Gran Hotel Ancira in Monterrey, under the presidentship of Dr. Maria Eugenia Soberanis and Maria Del Pilar Martinez.
Dr. Mishra, who primarily composes poetry in English, recently released her acclaimed collection “Line of Illumination.” Her earlier Odia poetry anthologies, “Nirabatara Shabda” and “Nistabddha Akash,” have also been highly appreciated by readers.
A recipient of a fellowship from the Union Ministry of Culture for her research on “Literature and Society,” Dr. Mishra continues to enrich the literary world through her profound poetic expression. She currently resides in Chennai.
