In 2025, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the Odisha government has given big relief to small depositors affected by chit fund scams. The government has accelerated the refund process to compensate the victims. Over the past year, 1,26,137 small investors have been refunded a total of ₹47.07 crore as part of this campaign. The Chief Minister has instructed that in the next 3 to 4 months, an additional 5 lakh depositors will receive their refunds. The process has now been decentralized to the district level and made simpler. While only 2.79 lakh depositors received ₹119 crore over the past ten years, this new policy is expected to bring significant change and faster justice for the victims.
