The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to be held in February-March next year. Preparations are in full swing for the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The ICC has finalized a total of eight venues for the event.
The five host cities in India are Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata. From Sri Lanka, three venues have been selected — two stadiums in Colombo and one in Kandy.
For the semi-final matches, the ICC has chosen the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and Eden Gardens in Kolkata. However, the venue will depend on whether Pakistan or Sri Lanka qualifies for the semi-finals. If either Pakistan or Sri Lanka reaches the semi-finals, that match will be played in Colombo. If neither team qualifies, both semi-finals will be played in India.
If Pakistan qualifies for the final, the match will be held in Colombo. Otherwise, the venue for the final will be decided later.
The venues for the warm-up matches have not yet been confirmed, though Bengaluru is likely to host some of them. India’s matches are expected to be played in major cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai.
The ICC is expected to announce the official match schedule soon. As per reports, during a recent BCCI meeting, it was decided that compared to the 2023 ODI World Cup, this time fewer cities will host matches. Each venue is expected to host around six games.
