During Operation Sindoor, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who had faced a humiliating defeat, has once again been caught lying. This time, he made false claims from the stage of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Sharif stated clearly that Pakistani fighter jets had shot down seven Indian aircraft.
However, the reality is that during the clashes in the first week of May, the Indian Air Force destroyed several Pakistani fighter jets. Following this, Pakistan had to plead with India for a ceasefire. Pakistan has repeatedly claimed to have shot down Indian aircraft, but has never provided any evidence.
At the UN, Sharif said, “Our pilots took off and turned seven Indian aircraft into scrap.” Earlier, Pakistan had claimed it was five aircraft, but provided no proof. India, on the other hand, has consistently dismissed these claims as baseless.
Sharif further said, “In May, there were provocations and attacks on our eastern front. Our response was purely in self-defense, and we gave the enemy a fitting reply. Pakistan firmly believes in resolving issues peacefully through dialogue and diplomacy.”
Yet, Sharif failed to provide any evidence to support his claim of downing Indian aircraft.
