Ukrainian Drone Strike Kills One, Hits Oil Refinery in Russia’s Saratov Region

On August 10, 2025, a Ukrainian drone attack struck Russia’s Saratov region, killing one person, injuring another, and causing significant damage to residential and industrial areas. According to regional governor Roman Busargin, debris from intercepted drones hit three apartment buildings, prompting evacuations and emergency aid for affected residents. Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that air defenses intercepted 121 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions, including eight over Saratov. Despite the interceptions, an industrial facility—believed to be an oil refinery—was hit, triggering explosions and a large fire visible in social media footage. Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed the strike targeted the refinery, which had previously suspended operations after earlier attacks. The incident highlights the escalating drone warfare between Kyiv and Moscow, with Ukraine aiming at critical Russian infrastructure and Russia intensifying its defensive measures.
