Zelensky to Meet Trump in Washington to Push Ukraine Peace Talks

To advance peace talks in Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky will arrive in Washington on Monday to meet U.S. President Donald Trump. Joining the discussions at the White House will be French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

European leaders are expected to press Trump to prioritize a peace agreement before any ceasefire. Following Trump’s recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he advised Zelensky to enter into a peace deal. Putin suggested that security guarantees for Ukraine and settlement of territorial issues must be part of the agreement.

According to the German government, Monday’s talks will cover the framework of a peace treaty, security guarantees, territorial questions, and regional cooperation with Ukraine.
