4219 Constable Posts to Be Filled Directly in Odisha Police

In a significant move to strengthen the state police force, the Odisha Government has approved the direct recruitment of 4219 vacant Constable posts across the state. The Home Department issued an official notification regarding this decision on Friday.

According to the communication from Tarun Kumar Panda, Under Secretary of the Home Department, letters have been sent to the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Inspectors General (IGs) to proceed with the recruitment process.

The decision comes after the State Police Headquarters submitted a proposal to the government for filling up the vacant constable positions. Following due consideration, the government has now given its formal approval for direct recruitment, as mentioned in the official correspondence.

The Home Department has further instructed that while filling up the posts, the authorities must strictly adhere to all existing departmental guidelines and the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued earlier on September 22, 2025.

This move is expected to address manpower shortages in the police force and enhance law enforcement efficiency across Odisha.
