The 8th State Police Inter-Battalion Commando Competition was held in a grand manner at the Chandaka Training Centre of the Special Operation Group (SOG). The inaugural ceremony was graced by the Additional Director General (ADG) of Anti-Naxal Operations, Sanjeev Panda, who attended as the Chief Guest and formally inaugurated the competition.
A total of 402 commandos from 17 teams representing various armed battalions of the Odisha Police are participating in this state-level competition. The event aims to assess the physical endurance, mental toughness, professional competence, and team coordination of the commandos.
Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, ADG Sanjeev Panda stated that such competitions strengthen discipline, a sense of responsibility, and professional skills among the commandos. He also emphasized that these events mentally prepare the personnel to respond swiftly and effectively to any adverse or emergency situations.
During the competition, the commandos will demonstrate their skills in events such as obstacle courses, a 1.3-kilometre confidence course run carrying a 5-kilogram backpack, cross-country marches, firing exercises, and other rigorous challenges. These activities are designed to further enhance their combat skills and field readiness.
ADGP Panda extended his best wishes to all participating commandos and advised that such professional training programmes and competitions should be conducted regularly.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by SP Special Branch Raj Prasad, Deputy Commandant Payal Dayal Ba, Sports Officer Neel Madhab Swain, along with other senior police officers.
