Arab-Islamic Emergency Summit in Doha: Over 50 Countries Participate, Tough Action Against Israel Likely

After Israel’s attack on Qatar’s capital Doha, the Arab-Islamic emergency summit has begun. More than 50 Islamic countries are participating in this summit, including influential Muslim nations such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey. It is expected that major decisions may be taken regarding imposing restrictions on Israel.

Prior to the summit, on Sunday, a meeting of foreign ministers from Muslim countries was held in Doha, and on Monday, the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also discussed the issue. Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the summit will deliberate on how to respond to Israel’s attack.

Out of OIC’s 57 member states, participation of more than 50 countries has been confirmed. According to diplomats, this will send a strong message to both the United States and Israel. Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said that Qatar is not alone; the entire Arab and Islamic world stands with it.

Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that Israel has crossed all limits and the international community must stop adopting double standards and hold Israel accountable. He emphasized that Israel must be restrained because it disregards all international laws.

Foreign policy experts believe that this summit will not only push for restrictions against Israel but will also exert significant pressure on the United States.
