Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit Nene has been announced as the brand ambassador of Odisha Handicrafts by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. This announcement was made at the ‘Ekta’ program organized in Bhubaneswar today on the occasion of National Handicrafts Day 2025. The Chief Minister was the chief guest and Madhuri Dixit attended the program as the special guest. The Chief Minister said that Odisha’s handicrafts have earned respect in various states of the country and Madhuri has been appointed as the ambassador to promote it globally. She will be engaged in promoting Odisha’s handicrafts for the next one year. The Chief Minister expressed the hope that under Madhuri’s leadership, Odisha’s handicrafts will shine on the world stage and this will also benefit the weavers. He said that it is our responsibility to revive Odisha’s heritage and promote it with pride in the country. Handicrafts are not only the economic backbone, but also a symbol of pride and dignity. He announced that textile parks will be set up in six places in Odisha. Meanwhile, he has advised everyone to wear Odisha handloom clothes one day every week. Currently, 30,000 weavers in 30 districts have been provided with helpers and continuous steps are being taken by the state government for their social and economic upliftment.
