CSIR-IMMT Conducts IPR Awareness Program, Executes Technology Transfer, and Signs MoU for R&D Collaboration

The CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar, successfully conducted an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Awareness Program on September 4, 2025, at its Auditorium in association with MSME-DFO, Cuttack. The event saw participation from stakeholders across Odisha, including MSMEs, startups, entrepreneurs, students, academicians, researchers, and professionals.

The objective of the program was to enhance awareness of IPR, promote innovation, protect inventions, and improve the competitiveness of the MSME ecosystem. Eminent speakers highlighted strategies on patent filing, technology protection, and commercialization pathways.

As part of its continued commitment to technology dissemination and industrial collaboration, CSIR-IMMT executed a Technology Transfer (ToT) of “Silicon Carbide from Rice Husk” to Devika Nano Technologies, Bellari, Karnataka, paving the way for sustainable and value-added utilization of agro-waste.

On the same occasion, CSIR-IMMT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Geovale, Kolkata, West Bengal, for R&D collaboration in the 4M areas – Minerals, Materials, Metallurgy, and Mining. This collaboration is expected to accelerate research-based innovations, resource efficiency, and industry-oriented solutions.

On the occasion, CSIR-IMMT officials emphasized the institute’s vision of bridging the gap between laboratory research and industrial applications, while also promoting Atmanirbhar Bharat through indigenous technologies and MSME empowerment.
