Nikki Haley: America Needs India to Counter China

Former US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, has stated that America needs India as an ally to counter China. In a post on social media platform ‘X’, Haley emphasized the importance of rebuilding strong ties between the two countries. Haley said that India should take Donald Trump’s concerns over Russian oil imports seriously and work with the White House to find a solution. According to her, issues such as trade disputes and oil imports require tough negotiations, but the most important thing is not to lose sight of the shared goals between the two nations. She wrote, “For the United States, having India as a friend is essential to confront China. The decades-old friendship and goodwill between the world’s two largest democracies provide a strong foundation to overcome current instability.” Earlier, on August 22, Haley had also remarked that the rise of democratic India is not a threat to the free world. She added that the US-India partnership should not be seen as a “big deal” but as a natural step. “Helping India stand against China will serve America’s interests,” she said.
