Odia film ‘Lahari’ has been winning appreciation from audiences and critics since its release. While its successful run continues, a piece of good news has arrived — the film has been officially selected for the 6th Mumbai International Film Festival. It will be screened on the 25th of this month at the National Film Archive in Pune.
Producer Jhilik Bhattacharjee and director Amartya Bhattacharjee expressed their happiness over the selection of ‘Lahari’ for this international festival, which is being organized by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, with the support of the National Film Development Corporation.
Earlier, the film had been awarded and appreciated at the Kolkata International Film Festival, Melbourne Film Festival, Iceland International Film Festival, and Tasveer Film Festival. According to the production house, both the producer and director are scheduled to attend the screening in Mumbai.
The storyline of the film highlights culture, tradition, and tourism development, while being deeply rooted in the essence of social life, focusing on the father-son relationship.
The cast includes Chaudhury Jayprakash Das, Chaudhury Bikash Das, Dipanbit Dash Mahapatra, Sushant Mishra, Prasannajit, Swastik Chaudhury, Sandeep Bal, Ankita, and Smruti Mahala in key roles.
Familiar faces like Debashis Patra, Har Rath, and Jhilik appear in guest roles, while popular actor Babushaan Mohanty plays an important character in the film.
