The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has taken a major step toward transforming the cricketing landscape of the state with the official announcement of the Odisha Pro T20 League, a state-level, franchise-based T20 tournament scheduled to kick off in September 2025. Designed to emulate the success of other professional leagues like the IPL, this tournament aims to provide a vibrant and competitive platform for young and emerging cricketing talents from all corners of Odisha. The matches will be hosted exclusively at the iconic Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, a venue with a rich cricketing legacy that has witnessed numerous domestic and international encounters.

The Odisha Pro T20 League will feature six regional franchises, each representing different geographical zones of the state. These teams will be formed through a systematic and professional structure, ensuring the inclusion of top-tier local talent, and offering them the opportunity to perform on a bigger stage under the spotlight. To manage the league professionally, the OCA has partnered with Arivaa Sports, a reputed sports management company with a successful track record of conducting similar leagues in Bengal, Vidarbha, and Saurashtra.

In an effort to involve entrepreneurs and stakeholders from the business community, OCA has opened up an Expression of Interest (EOI) process for franchise ownership. This process will be conducted between July 7 and July 13, 2025, allowing interested parties to apply for owning and operating one of the six franchises. The selection of franchise owners will be based on merit, long-term commitment to cricket development, and the ability to manage the franchise in a professional manner.

This tournament is expected to bring a wave of enthusiasm to cricket fans in Odisha, especially those in Cuttack, as the Barabati Stadium will serve as the central venue for all matches, offering live, high-octane T20 action. More than just a tournament, the Odisha Pro T20 League represents a long-term vision to strengthen grassroots cricket, identify hidden talent, and create a structured path for players aiming for higher levels of the sport, including national recognition.
