PM Modi’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ post angers Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif

India defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the Asia Cup 2025 final. After the thrilling final held in Dubai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Team India on the victory, making a reference to ‘Operation Sindoor’.

However, this post by the Prime Minister angered Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif. Reacting on social media, he said that peace could never be achieved in this way.

Asif further wrote that by destroying the culture and spirit of cricket, PM Modi was weakening the possibility of peace and problem-solving in the subcontinent just to save his politics. He added that peace and dignity could never be restored in such a manner.

Asif also claimed that the score of the Pakistan-India war was 6/0. He said, “We don’t say much, but Modi has been humiliated in India and in the world.”

Interestingly, just 72 hours earlier, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had claimed at the UN General Assembly that during the four-day war with India, the Pakistani army had shot down 7 Indian Air Force jets. But 72 hours later, his own Defence Minister claimed only 6 jets were downed.

Since Operation Sindoor, the Pakistani government has repeatedly made false claims about downing Indian aircraft, often changing the figures in their statements.

After India’s victory in the Asia Cup final, PM Modi wrote on social media platform ‘X’— “Operation Sindoor on the cricket field. Same result: India’s victory. Congratulations to our cricketers on the win.”

It is notable that in the Asia Cup final, Pakistan batted first and scored 146 runs. In reply, India secured victory in 19.4 overs, losing 5 wickets.
