Rain-Interrupted Perth ODI: India Bowled Out for 136, Australia Given Revised Target of 131 Runs

In the rain-affected first ODI at Perth, India, after losing the toss, batted first and scored 136 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Due to frequent interruptions caused by rain, the match was reduced to 26 overs, preventing India from setting up a big total. As per the revised target under DLS rules, Australia has been given a target of 131 runs.

India’s start was disappointing. Returning to the field after a long gap, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed to perform up to expectations. Rohit was dismissed for 8 runs, while Kohli went out without scoring. Captain Shubman Gill made 10 runs before getting out, leaving India struggling at 25 for 3.

The match was halted several times due to rain, and overs were reduced. Eventually, India got to play only 26 overs. Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for 11 runs. However, Axar Patel and KL Rahul steadied the innings with resilient batting. Axar scored 31 runs and KL Rahul top-scored with 38 runs. Washington Sundar contributed 10 runs, while Nitish Kumar Reddy made 19 off 11 balls with two sixes, helping India reach 136 runs.

For Australia, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Owen, and Matthew Kuhnemann took two wickets each.
