His childhood coach, Dinesh Lad, revealed in an interview with ANI — “Watching Rohit bat brilliantly in Sydney and lead the team to victory made me very happy. Rohit himself told me that he will play the *2027 ODI World Cup* and only retire after that.”

Dinesh Lad also praised Virat Kohli, saying — “Kohli is a player who can succeed in any condition. Watching him bat is always a joy.” He further added — “Sachin Tendulkar once said that Rohit and Virat would break his records in the future, and today, that statement is turning true.”

Though India lost the first two ODIs against Australia, in the third match, the duo of Rohit and Virat played match-winning innings. Rohit remained unbeaten on 121 off 125 balls, while Virat scored an unbeaten 74 off 81 balls and hit the winning boundary, guiding India to a well-deserved victory.
