Strong Indian Response to Trump's Anti-India Remarks, Calls It Unjust and Irrational

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has now crossed diplomatic boundaries with his continued anti-India rhetoric. Referring to India's stance on trade deals, Trump has issued a fresh threat to further increase tariffs on Indian imports.

In a direct and firm response, India has rejected these statements outright. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “This threat is completely unfair and illogical. After the Ukraine war, when Europe and the U.S. intervened in the global oil market, India began buying cheaper oil from Russia to provide affordable fuel to its citizens. Other countries are also doing business with Russia, so targeting India alone is unjust.”

He further pointed out, “In 2024, the European Union’s trade with Russia was higher than India’s. The U.S. is still purchasing uranium and palladium from Russia. Such double standards are unacceptable.”

This response came after Trump posted a controversial message on Truth Social, claiming that India is not only purchasing large quantities of Russian oil but also selling it in open markets for huge profits. Hence, he plans to impose significantly higher tariffs on Indian goods.

Over the past several days, Trump has repeatedly targeted India in his posts. But this time, India has given a clear and bold reply, emphasizing that it will act in accordance with its national interests and economic security.
