Korean steel company POSCO is all set to return to Odisha. In collaboration with JSW Steel, the company will establish a 6-million-tonne capacity integrated steel plant in Keonjhar district. Industry Minister Samapad Swain confirmed this during his visit to Angul on Monday. He said, “If POSCO chooses Odisha, the government will extend all possible support.” The minister further stated that land acquisition for JSW in Keonjhar is already in progress. Meanwhile, POSCO has signed an MoU with JSW Hagdang for partnership. He added, “After the formation of the new government, industrialists have renewed their trust in Odisha. Earlier, there were hurdles in industrial development, but now Odisha is emerging as a preferred destination for industries.” Earlier, during the Utkarsh Odisha Conclave, JSW had signed an MoU with the state government for this steel plant. At present, land acquisition and other preparatory works for the proposed project are moving ahead in full swing.
