Odisha is rapidly emerging as a leading textile hub in India. On July 25, 2025, during the “Odisha TEX 2025” event held in Bhubaneswar, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated six new Textile and Apparel Parks across the state. These parks are expected to boost investment and create employment opportunities for skilled youth, women, and rural artisans. A total of 33 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the event, attracting an investment worth ₹7,808 crore and generating over 53,300 jobs. The state government also increased monthly wage subsidies for workers-raising it from ₹6,000 to ₹7,000 for women and from ₹5,000 to ₹6,000 for men. The Chief Minister stated that Odisha aims to become the Textile Capital of Eastern India. These initiatives will play a pivotal role in driving economic growth, employment, and rural empowerment in the state.
