“One Day As A Scientist” Weekly Program Concludes Successfully at CSIR–IMMT, Bhubaneswar

The CSIR–Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar, successfully organized a week-long program titled “One Day Scientist”. The primary objective of this initiative was to foster scientific awareness and curiosity among young students.

Nearly 700 students from various schools and colleges across Odisha and beyond actively participated in the event. They had the unique opportunity to experience a scientific environment firsthand and observe modern research methodologies in action.

As part of the program, the students visited IMMT’s research centers, innovation hub, and other departments. They were introduced to various scientific instruments and technologies used in ongoing research.

The highlight of the program was the hands-on experience, where students operated scientific instruments themselves and engaged in research and experimentation processes. They also interacted with scientists and gained in-depth knowledge about the projects and studies underway.

“One Day Scientist” is a key component of IMMT’s broader scientific outreach program, designed to bridge the gap between textbook learning and practical experience, thereby inspiring students towards a scientific future. The program received praise from several educational institutions and parents for its content and interactive nature.

Through such initiatives, CSIR–IMMT continues to play a significant role in enhancing scientific consciousness in India and encouraging the youth to build their careers in science and research.
