Shubman Gill Loses All Tosses in England Test Series, India Sets Unwanted World Record

English: Indian Test captain Shubman Gill has lost all five tosses in the ongoing Test series against England. In the fifth Test too, England won the toss and opted to bowl first. This is the 14th instance in Test cricket history where a team has lost every toss in a five-match series. In the 21st century, this has only happened four times — the first being in 2018 with Virat Kohli as captain. Now, Shubman Gill becomes the second Indian captain in this century to face this situation. Currently, England leads the series 2-1.

English: Additionally, India has now lost 15 consecutive tosses in men’s international cricket — a world record. This streak began on January 31, 2025, when Suryakumar Yadav, captaining against England in a T20 match, lost the toss. Since then, India hasn’t won a single toss. Previously, the record for most consecutive toss losses belonged to West Indies, who lost 12 tosses in a row in 1999.
